Hoang is a Saigon-based artist who was born in 1969 in a Southern province of Long An. Though watercolor and graphic design used to be his forte, most of his latest works are oil and acrylic paintings on topics of portrait, nudity, and social politics executed in the seemingly opposed co-existence of both realistic impressionism and abstractionism, through which he contemplates on human’s identity and forefeels their future. Since 2007, Hoang has been regularly participating in Region 6 & 8 Art exhibitions in regional areas including Ho Chi Minh City. He is one of the team leaders and organizers of the watercolor exhibitions under the name of Watercolor group "Homogeneity". He has two solo exhibitions with the subject of portraits on various materials in Ho Chi Minh City. Most recently, he participated in an online fundraising auction for the flooding in Central Vietnam with the theme of "Down the Thu River" and participated in the group exhibition of 3 people named "Ờ (Uh)" in Hanoi in 2020 alone. In parallel with his creations, Hoang is a reliable artist who individual collectors become loyal customers of. Before starting to paint professionally, he was a graphic designer working for well-known fashion brands such as Thai Tuan, Thang Loi, Khai Thinh, Long An Textile, Viet Thang, Khatoco. In addition, he is also a lecturer of Fine Arts at Ho Chi Minh City University of Architecture and a member of HCMC Fine Arts Association. Hoang graduated from Ho Chi Minh City University of Architecture, majoring in Graphic Design. Since 2008, he has been teaching Fine Arts at the same school he graduated from. He lives in Phu Nhuan and Nha Be, HCMC and has his own workshop.
