Duc Hoa is a Vietnamese artist specialized in acrylic and oil painting, born in 1964 in Quang Ngai province (Central Vietnam) within a family very much involved in art field. His hometown is one of the most prominent cultural and artistic places in Vietnam. Duc Hoa's work mainly refers to expressionism and impressionism styles, but he also explores themes getting inspired by Cubism. The artist's work mainly depicts urban lifestyle, religious anxiety and dark sides of the human condition by creating abstract and semi-abstracts paintings. Duc hoa's creativity is not led by any inner unconscious process but his moment emotions and worldview. He has participated in a few exhibitions in Vietnam, among them the National Fine Arts exhibition (1990), the new Composing Exhibition (2012) and Dogma – Exhibition of Portrait (2014). Besides, his paintings have been exhibited at Asia Trend Gallery, in Singapore in 2013. Before becoming a full-time artist, Duc Hoa used to be a fashion designer. He has designing many Kimonos and Ao Dai for Takeda brand. Realizing this job was not suitable for him, he quit in 2002 to focus of his artist's career. Since then, Duc Hoa has been managing his own studio/gallery in Ho Chi Minh City; he is regularly commissioned by interior designers to create bespoke paintings for some hospitality projects. Since years, Duc Hoa's paintings have grabbed international collectors' attention in the US, UK, and France, selling many paintings there. Duc Hoa graduated from Hue College of Fine Arts in 1986; he currently lives and works in Ho Chi Minh City.
